Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with results like these.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
