Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the popular series The Middle.

US performer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist died at home in LA on Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on several hit series, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.

Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
