Britain Prepared to Use Seized Russia's Assets to Finance the Ukrainian Military Campaign

The British government is ready to advance with utilizing the total value of seized Russian holdings to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the initiative would be implemented in tight collaboration with the America.

UK restrictions have immobilized over £25bn of Russia's assets since the Russian government initiated its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. However, previously, funds allocated to Ukraine using Russia's funds had only been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their aim to push forward toward utilizing the total worth of the frozen Russia's state assets to conclude the conflict.

He noted that further measures soon would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement comes after European representatives convened in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing seized Russia's funds for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or utilize seized Russian assets, according to media sources.

The value of seized Russia's holdings in the EU is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow carried out extensive bombardments across Ukraine on that day, leading to electricity outages in many areas of the capital city, the city, and multiple additional areas.

In a post on social media following the incident, Zelensky stated that the cynical and calculated attack focused on non-military and power facilities.
