Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Control Asserted from the Start

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
