Ariana Grande attended an event in Singapore for the international debut of Wicked: For Good

Devoted fans of the actress are calling for that a man who breached a barricade and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or expelled from Singapore.

A viral footage depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing photographers and rushing toward Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.

Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the gathering by security officers.

Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being taken in", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.

Pattern of Disruptions

This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account includes videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last winter.

"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.

Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Safety

Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.

"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another response on Instagram.

Some attendees also criticised guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's content.

Reaction and Event Details

In videos shared widely, Grande looked shocked when she was approached by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.

Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.

The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.

They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.

The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, securing a pair for outstanding attire and set decoration.
