Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the shocking deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence property on Sunday.
According to a report citing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
When she went into the house, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.
The anonymous source also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Furthermore disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to accounts of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
