Trump Invites Relatives of Injured Military Personnel to the White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Mourners came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The event prompted the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and halt granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” the governor addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
