Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage includes live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available on select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the NFL season and after recent discussion regarding two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable in those games was the amount of infractions both committed. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the final quarter versus the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it was good to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit before lead three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory by four points.
Denver boast the top defender with CB their star corner. They rank number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.
They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing extra defenders instead they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted on a program that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up big while new running back their rusher is a player they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love that the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes and keeps you in positive situations.
It's also benefited QB the young passer, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to pass all over, but they lack the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he is highly agile.
His assets are his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to deliver throws when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got great poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is quick to decide.
When you constantly rush it eats up the clock and makes the defence to be on the field for longer, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the area downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.
Nix has bitten back at Payton during games at times and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to have a young quarterback who's similar to play-dough. He can really build something up the way he wants to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.
Payton owns a championship and has passed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. I think the success Denver are having on offence is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB helps make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team good enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.
Right now, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to be in their division. The key is is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.
Ever since the NFL began tracking takeaways in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking when you think that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.
It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
